This is the final call for the Dartmouth and District Chamber of Trade.
After an EGM which resulted in only one person volunteering to join the chamber, only one further volunteer from the area has stepped forward to try and resurrect the Chamber of Trade.
Paul Reach who volunteered to be an officer on the Chamber’s committee at the EGM has said Jamie Waugh, manager of the Dartmouth Golf Club is the only person who has come forward since.
Thus, Mr Reach from Dartmouth Business News has said one more week will be allowed for business owners in the town to respond to the call for support.
If no more volunteers step forward then the Chamber will be allowed to close.
Mr Reach has confirmed the Chamber is in a breach of company law.
The extraordinary general meeting held on Thursday, July 12, was called after the Chronicle reported in May that the chamber’s three directors, Mr Cawley, Roger Jordan and Stephen Freeman, had all quit in January, leaving the limited company with no directors.
There was no official confirmation by the chamber of the resignations at the time – nothing on the chamber’s website or its Facebook page – and it appeared that the last time the chamber had held a members’ meeting was at Dartmouth Yacht Club on June 26, last year.
