An inquest has been opened into the death of 82-year-old farmer Donald Tucker who was found injured in an outbuilding at his home and died two days later in hospital.

Mr Tucker, of Crabadon Cottage Farm, Halwell, died of a traumatic brain injury following a fall, the inquest was told.

Coroner’s officer Stephanie Teague said: ‘On Wednesday, June 8, Donald had an unwitnessed fall in an outbuilding at his home address.

‘Donald was taken to Torbay Hospital and a CT scan showed he had suffered a subarachnoid and subdural haemorrhage.

‘After discussion with neurosurgeons at Derriford Hospital, Donald was not suitable for any surgical intervention and he was kept comfortable. Donald sadly died at the hospital on Friday, June 10.’

She added that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Mr Tucker, who was single, was identified by his brother Geoffrey, also a farmer from Halwell.
