A SPECIAL farewell will be said to former Townstal lollipop lady Eileen Day who died before Christmas after a short illness. She was aged 73.
Eileen was a long-standing member of St Clement’s Church, Dartmouth, where a Requiem Eucharist will take place next Monday at 2pm. A funeral service was held for her on Tuesday in Torquay.
Eileen was well known to many people in Dartmouth, where she had lived for many years.
She was involved with the Brownies and Guides, Old Dartmothians, Townstal Community Partnership, the Wrens Association and Dartmouth Museum.
In 2011, she received a town plaque for her services as the Townstal Road lollipop lady for over 15 years, an award she was incredibly proud of.
At the time, town councillor Dave Cawley said: ‘I ran into Eileen often on the way up the hill, she always had a lovely smile on her face, I will miss bumping into her.’
