SPOTTY Dalmation puppies, the Flintstones in their car, swashbuckling pirates, moustached bandits in ponchos, super heroes and even a flock of seagulls were all making merry in Dartmouth on New Year’s Eve.

Scores of fancy dress revellers welcomed in 2016 at various establishments around the town.

Fireworks lit up the night sky above the Royal Castle Hotel on the stoke of midnight as crowds gathered round the Boatfloat to link arms and sing Auld Lang Syne.

Photographer Dave Cawley captured the atmosphere of the occasion with this selection of images.

He said: ‘Numbers were down on previous years but the standard of fancy dress was just as high and it was a brilliant night for local people who were able to move easily around the town and have a wonderful time.’See Friday's Dartmouth Chronicle for more pictures
