BARRY VAUGHAN, of Higher Street, Dartmouth, writes:

It was so exciting to read Gabby Prior's article covering the opening of the new pizza cafe in Victoria Road – just what our town needs.

Its fresh approach is a departure from the succession of Dartmouth's copycat provision, instead serving top quality healthy Mediterranean-style dishes, so beloved of the younger citizens of our town.

Space in that issue seemed to have cloaked the knowledge that firstly, much of the equipment is very specialised, well into five figures, with magnificent, cleverly installed hi-tech LED lighting unique – straight off the internet!

Secondly, the proprieter and the co-chefs carried out of most of the building and setting out work, skillfully achieved, entirely by themselves, working well into the evenings to ensure it opened as planned and must take all due credit with special praise. Quite a remarkable effort.

Let us hope that more people bring enterprise and enrichment to Dartmouth and follow this trio with other ideas to result in a kaleidoscope of fu, so that Dartmouth becomes not just a 'choice' for a visitors' holidays but more an obligatory annual mecca.

We have a long way to go.
