Dartmouth will be completing the 2017 cruise season with two back-to-back arrivals on Thursday, September 21st and Friday, September 22nd, when two of the most refined ships afloat, anchor out by the Castle.
First to arrive is the new and glamorous Regent Seven Seas Explorer which claims to be the most luxurious ship ever built. She last visited the town in June but bad weather in July led to the cancellation of her second visit. She brings with her over 700 international guests who will be half way through a 22-day journey that started in Newcastle and will end in Barcelona.
The following day, the town plays host to Hapag Lloyd’s Europa. She calls into Dartmouth almost every year and will be on her 18th birthday cruise. She may be older but is no less sophisticated than Explorer. As her guests are mainly from Germany, the Dartmouth Visitor Centre will be supplying an on-board German speaker to assist with tourist-related queries. Europa will be arriving from Milford Haven en route to Greenwich.
The town crier, Lez Ellis and his consort Liz will be greeting both ships and the Dartmouth Visitor Centre will have a presence on the Town Jetty each day.
This will complete the cruise ship programme for 2017. The next scheduled arrival is in April 2018 and in total, there are currently 10 port visits confirmed.
