Dartmouth Academy celebrated World Book Day in style this year with everyone dressing up as their favourite book character.

On Thursday, March 2, the primary school started their day with parents coming in to read to the children, then they had a “hilarious” assembly run by Mr Pembertons stand-in Mr Twit from Roald Dahl’s famous book, followed by a morning of book activities and quizzes.

Sophie Neale, Dartmouth Academy, said: “Over the past three years we have had continuing support from Andrea and Kathy from Dartmouth Community BookShop, to supply every primary child with a book to take home using their book tokens.

“We handed out 245 books to the children through primary and Year 7 in secondary. Thank you to the book shop for making this possible.

“Thank you to all the parents for their support with some amazing costumes and the event raised £200 for the charity, Book Aid International.”
