Ken Smith, of Brookwood Close,South Brent, writes:

Perhaps the time is right for all members of the South Brent Parish Council to reflect upon the fact that not one of them has been elected into office, therefore not one of them has a mandate to change long standing traditions within the parish such as 'Beating the Bounds' and changing the status of the Parish from a village to a town.

The latter having financial implications for every house owner within the village as it would no doubt, over time, reduce the resale value of every property to the level of Ivybridge and other such 'towns' within the area.

There are many contentious issues facing the village of South Brent at present.

Poor traffic management, parking, property development outside the 'structure plan', parking charges in Station Yard......the list goes on.

Are the residents of South Brent prepared to leave such important decisions to handful of unelected councillors who have no mandate to make such decisions?

Perhaps the time is now right for the residents of the parish to reflect upon the above items and ensure that as many right minded folk as possible stand for election in 2015 thus allowing the proper democratic process to once again return to the 'village' of South Brent.
