A MAN was bitten by a security dog after allegedly trying to break into a building site during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 42-year-old from Townstal was reported to police for allegedly shouting abuse and throwing objects at the security guards of the site of the new care home being built on Victory Road.

The man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and spent the night at Torquay police station.

A police spokesman said: 'We were called to the incident at 1.30am.The man had tried getting into the site and was bitten by the guard dog.

'He was outside the building shouting and being abusive. He was shouting abuse and throwing things at the security team.'

The police spokesman said custody officers had to wait for the man to sober up before questioning him.
