R E ANSTEY of The Old Lookout, Above Town, Dartmouth, writes:

Devon County Council are now planning to extend double lines among other nasty things in Dartmouth, restricting yet more parking areas for residents. The latest proposal was placed in the paper on Regatta Friday. Like many people I was unable to go to the town and missed my copy and totally unaware of DCC plans.

When so much is going on in Dartmouth and the town so busy it is difficult for many of us to venture to town, but I am sure the DCC are fully aware of this problem and it does cut down the amount of protests if people are unaware of their plans. I find it very sinister. What do they hope to achieve? Disrupting residents and businesses alike is just not on. DCC are planning to introduce the following changes.

1 Year round on street parking restrictions where currently seasonal restrictions apply.

2 The extension of double lines resulting in a reduction of on-street parking facilities.

3 The introduction of parking restrictions in some spaces that are currently unrestricted.

This comes at a time when small businesses are struggling to survive. In my view an evil move by DCC. They couldn't possibly understand what it is like to run a business, how could they? With their well paid jobs, fat pensions and every facility including free parking while at work.

If you wish to protest please contact them via http://www.devon.gov.uk/traffic-orders">www.devon.gov.uk/traffic-orders or in writing to: County Solicitor, Devon County Council, County Hall, Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 4QD ref: IMR/BO9699 - Dartmouth Parking Restrictions Amendment Order draft 5312, closing date – Friday, September 20. Remember each letter counts as objection.

Thank you for our good friends who alerted us to this latest menace.
