THE Riversiders have won two from two games and lie second in the league, but joint coach Steve Atkins was a little disappointed with the performance.
He thought that the team he put out might give him the bonus point which, in this league, is paramount.
To get a bonus point you have to score four or more tries.
Yet again the forwards dominated the scrums, the mauls and the rucks for Dartmouth.
But it was Buckfastleigh who scored first with a penalty from stalwart Steve Chapple on 20 minutes and he added another five minutes later.
However, Jai Prettyjohns, just back from injury, hit back with a well-worked try, spinning the ball out to captain courageous Will Lockerbie.
Prettyjohns looped around, received the ball from Luke Bonstow and went over on the far left-hand side,.
However, in swirling wind, he missed his own conversion.
The scoreline stayed the same up to half-time, 6-5 to the Ramblers. Dartmouth regrouped at the interval and, with a well-worked training ground move, they scored a brilliant try.
Again Jai Prettyjohns, playing at number 10, set up Will Lockerbie with the ball won from a Buckfastleigh scrum.
He spun the ball to Will Lockerbie who dodged the first tackle, side-stepped the second and crashed his way through to score under the posts.
This time Jai took the conversion to make it 6-12 with 14 minutes of the second half gone.
From this point on, Dartmouth dominated and, 10 minutes later, Sam Churchill went through with a blistering run down the wing to score under the posts. This made Jai Prettyjohns' job of slotting the ball over an easier task. Dartmouth therefore extended their lead to 19-6. They had to make a change four minutes later, however, when Sam Churchill, not content with taking out the opposition players, took out one of his own teammates.
He went into a tackle, brought down the Ramblers' player, but his feet went into the Buckfastleigh air and took Aaron Hunt out with a suspected broken cheek bone.
Hunt was taken to Torbay Hospital, with his injury confirmed as a badly bruised cheekbone.
Chris Payne came on for the injured Azry and, while making the change, Dartmouth also brought on Chunky Woodgate for the ever-youthful Jerry Wiltshire.
Buckfastleigh, however, were to have the last word, Matt Pyke charging down a clearance and Darren Greep taking full advantage for a consolation try for the Ramblers. Chapple converted to take the final score to 13-19.
The Riversiders have have a friendly against Newton Abbot 2nds tomorrow at 3pm.
