Dartmouth Caring is delighted to announce that it will be holding a grand charity draw featuring the work of two well-known local artists.

A spokesman for Dartmouth Caring said: “Sculptor Jenny Wynne Jones has very generously donated a beautiful bronze resin bust of a young boy. The work is entitled ‘Ben’ and is appropriately named for her grandson; the muse for this work. Ben was 2 years old at the time of its creation. There is a charming thoughtfulness and beauty in Jenny’s work which when studied in detail, takes on an almost spiritual quality.

“In contrast, a thoughtful supporter has donated a canvas by Paul Barclay. We are all very familiar with Paul’s unique illustrative style, carefully honed since he started his artistic journey. However, this canvas is an earlier piece, and as such is very sought after. It depicts a house in Marrakech and was part of a series of cityscapes produced for a Galleries Night exhibition 11 years ago.

“The exhibition was entitled ‘Exotique’ and conveyed the mysterious, heady atmosphere of the densely packed, walled medieval city. For this work, Paul employed a very different technique, using a palette knife and acrylic paint to produce a bold and appealing piece.

“The Draw will take place in October with tickets available from the Dartmouth Caring’s offices and retailers in Dartmouth.”
