Daphne Scorer, the longest serving member of Dartmouth Players and past chairman, has died after contributing 60 years to the group.Bill Hunt of Dartmouth Players said: “Many of you more recent members and friends will not have known Daphne but she, together with her husband Derek were the longest serving members of our group, clocking up over 60 years. The picture of Daphne was taken in 1957 when she acted in a production of Northanger Abbey.

“Daphne and Derek spent many years running the group with Daphne as Chairman and Derek as Treasurer. They were familiar figures as front of house staff during the group’s Dartmouth Guildhall days.

“Daphne also spent many years as chairman of the South Devon Drama Federation. They were avid local drama supporters and rarely missed one of our shows. Our thoughts go to Derek and all the family at this sad time”.
