Stoke Fleming is planning to dance for joy when the Olympic torch is run through the village next month.

Now the village is looking for the volunteer dancers it needs to get on their feet for the torch visit.

The torch relay will reach Stoke Fleming on May 20 as a team of torch bearers carry it from Plymouth to Torbay – including outings to Dartmouth and Totnes.

The dance greeting is being organised by Dance in Devon, South Devon Dance Compass and Active Villagers.

A spokesman said they were looking for dancers of all ages and abilities to take part in the Stoke Fleming performance.

She added: 'If you fancy doing something a bit different and can spare a few hours over the next few weeks, South Devon Dance needs you,' she said.

It is planned to meet up over the next few weeks to sort out the dance event culminating in a practice on Saturday, May 19, before the real thing from 10am on Sunday, May 20.

She added: 'The idea is to get as many different people from the community moving together as possible, and to have fun.

'So whether you are nine or 99 and want to dance sitting down, or maybe you have never danced before and fancy giving it a go.'
