I was absolutely appalled at the arrogance of the Dartmouth town councillors who felt they could not attend 'any questions' because they had not been invited. The fact the questions concerned local issues makes it even worse.

In the front page article where councillors tried to defend themselves only Cllr Steve Smith made a relevant point saying that had he not had to work that evening he would have attended 'as a resident of the community.'

That is exactly why the other councillors should have attended. Why do we vote for these people and why should the Mayor assume he should be invited to be on the panel when a perfectly adequate panel of local people was in place?

Perhaps if they had received expenses they may well all have turned up?
