What is happening within the South Hams District Council that even its members are being kept in the dark?
There are rumours flying around that the leader and officials are consulting in secret with an ‘assets team’ to sell off its car parks to private enterprise. It seems consultations have been going on for some time and eventually the parish councils, whose car parks are under threat, will be brought into the picture.
I am sorry, but if this is true it does not sound like democracy at work.
All too often those most affected by any such decisions are brought in so late that that is extremely difficult to overturn their pre-made decisions.
A case in point is the closure of Dartmouth and Kingswear Hospital.
I think that Cllr John Tucker should tell us right now what is going on, whether such meetings have been taking place and, if so, what is the likely outcome.
