The town is after helpers who want to get involved in a visit by up to 45 people from the town of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
And they could also become involved in a return trip to the USA next year when the American town is celebrating its 350th birthday.
A meeting is being held at the Clifton Rooms in Guildhall on Wednesday next week at 7pm, organised by town council general purposes committee chairman Felicity Smith.
It is hoped to get volunteers to help co-ordinate the five-day visit by the Dartmouth USA representatives from September 9.
The US party will arrive at Heathrow before travelling to Dartmouth via Stonehenge.
While they are in Dartmouth, it is hoped to sort out visits to the BRNC, museum and castle and trips on the Dart. Although the US visitors are paying for the trip, they are asking for help in arranging coach travel and accommodation.
The US visitors are hoping to organise a return visit to their own town next year when they celebrate the 350th anniversary of the founding of Dartmouth USA in 1664
