The recent article on the crash of the Wasp helicopter flying out from Norton 40 years ago reminds us that this tragic event is sliding out of personal recollection into written history. 

Future military historians researching this incident may need to know that the crash did not occur 50 yards south of the hangar, as you report, but just over 1,000 yards away to the south east. 

The crash site was close to the Stoke Fleming road just beyond the playing field.
