THE sailing vessel and cruise ship Sea Cloud II is due to arrive in Dartmouth today.

Carrying just under 100 passengers who are mainly German, the vessel will be visiting the town from around 8am onwards.

Cruise ship group chairman Tricia Daniels said: 'Although this is a brief visit on a charter basis, the Sea Cloud II is an old friend of the town and has another visit planned in 2016.

'The ship has arranged for a trip to Greenway for its private group, before they leave again at 1.30pm.

'Having had to endure the first two cruise ships of the season cancel visits as a result of difficult weather conditions, fingers are firmly crossed for a sunny day with calm seas.'

If weather conditions allow, the ship will moor mid-river.
