Annual fashion show raises over £1,500 for charity.

The Dartmouth Caring yearly fashion show attracted almost 100 guests who were welcomed into The Dart Marina Hotel for the afternoons fashion experience.

Dee Nutt, Chair of the charity officially opened the proceedings, before Nick Hindmarsh, the manager of Dartmouth Caring thanked all those who had donated gifts and all in attendance for their generosity.

He provided facts and figures to highlight how important this event as the main fundraiser of the charity is to the work carried out in the community.

This year the clothes were donated by Tracie Fox of the Foxx Exchange and Liz Donlon of Dreams @ Number 3. Tracie worked tirelessly to provide guests with a beautifully co-ordinated display of fashions and accessories.

Unfortunately this year, Sarah Hanafee from Danielli who is usually an integral part of the fashion show was unable to offer her usual support due to logistical problems. However, Sarah did provide two beautiful outfits for inclusion.

Chair Dee said she was delighted with the success of the afternoon and the generosity and assistance of all involved.

Musical entertainment was provided by Bill and Norman from The Dartmouth Players and Robert Green donated his time as an official photographer.

Prizes for the raffle which raised over £500 were generously donated by Dreams @ Number 3, Danielli, Foxx Exchange, Linda Russell, Tim Halistone and Dartmouth Caring.

Additionally, the afternoon would not have been possible without the help from the models.

All generous helpers enabled the charity to raise over £1,500 on Thursday, April 19, which will help the continuation of the work carried out in the community.

Having started 30 years ago as a small volunteer group providing hospital transport for those in need, the charity now employs ten staff who help to deliver health and benefit advice, lunch clubs, transport, a visually impaired reading group and much more.

One and a half thousand pounds pays for two months of a part time support worker or the back office costs and driver expenses for the volunteer driver scheme.Fundraising, therefore is a vital element in the viability of the charity.
