JOHN POLLEY, of Pottery Cottages, Dartmouth, writes:
As you may remember, I wrote last year about our telephone problems. I received many replies from readers suffering from the same problem.
Following this, I wrote to the chief executive of BT. As a result, BT at last checked its exchange and discovered that all the faulty lines were connected to Concentrator 22 in the exchange. A new concentrator was installed and all seemed well.
Alas! Following the heavy rain late in July, the problem returned on August 1.
I wrote to the chief executive of BT again, and as a result an Openreach technician was instructed to resolve the problem with my line immediately.
He did this by disconnecting my line from Concentrator 22 and reconnecting it to Concentrator 8.
It now works perfectly, and my broadband no longer disconnects every 15 minutes.
Unfortunately this is of little help to the 100-plus subscribers still connected to Concentrator 22, and my supplier’s excellent troubleshooter cannot help customers of other service providers.
I suggest that they write to BT’s chief executive asking to be reconnected to another concentrator, as BT seems incapable of resolving the problem with the ill-fated 22.
