THOSE standing for a place on the Dartmouth Business Improvement District board of directors remained a mystery before the annual meeting.
A list of candidates names was not being released ahead of Thursday night’s meeting in the Guildhall at 6pm.
BID chairman Peter Conisbee said: ‘Details of applicants standing for election to become a director will not be released until the night.’
Meanwhile, a number of posters have appeared around the town and in shop windows calling for an end to the BID.
The bold flyers claim businesses can save several pounds by voting ‘No’ to the BID.
‘No directors equals no board; no board equals no BID and no BID equals no levy fees,’ they say.
Townstal businessman Gordon Anderson, an anti-BID campaigner, denied he was behind the posters and didn’t know who was.
‘I know nothing about them,’ he said. ‘I must come down to town to see them.’
Mr Conisbee said he had no comment to make about the posters.
