Ronda Leonard, of Thurleston Gardens, Dartmouth, writes:
I write in support of the comments made by David Bagott in the paper recently.
I am an asthmatic and on three occasions in the last 10 days, during very hot weather, I have had to retreat indoors and close all windows to prevent bonfire smoke from adversely affecting my breathing.
The smoke originated from the South Ford and Church Road areas of Dartmouth.
Presumably, the people who light bonfires do not consider the effect of smoke pollution o the enjoyment and potentially the health of others.
Perhaps a way forward is for those who feel sufficiently strongly to write to the environmental health department at South Hams Council providing dates, times and locations so that appropriate action can be taken.
