Dartmouth's new-look community cafe is well and truly blessed.
The town's new vicar, Will Hazlewood, led prayers during a lunch club session at the recently renovated centre and then blessed the building.
Fr Hazlewood and is wife Sophie were invited to the club event by Dartmouth Caring's chairman Dee Nutt.
'It's a wonderful place where the community comes together,' he said. 'I was glad to lead prayers there and bless the wonderful newly renovated building – it's a fantastic resource for the community.'
The lunch club meets weekly. Members go to have a hearty meal, meet their friends and have a good time.
It is run by Dartmouth Caring, a charity which helps the elderly and vulnerable in the town and its surrounding parishes.
The club has been a huge success and now counts more than 60 regular members.
The Hazlewoods have just been presented with a new addition to their family with the birth of baby, Esther Constance.
Dee said she was delighted that Will and Sophie came down to see the lunch club and that Will blessed the cafe.
'It's so important for Dartmouth's vicar to support community groups and we are delighted that Will has been so positive about the lunch club and Dartmouth Caring,' she said.
'He and Sophie are very lovely and chatted to our lunch club members for ages, and we made sure that we made them feel welcome.
'On behalf of all at Dartmouth Caring, I would like to congratulate both of them on the birth of their daughter Esther – we wish Will, Sophie, Theo and his new baby sister Esther well.'
