VAL JACKSON, of Drew Street, Brixham, writes:
Thank you for publishing my previous letter, Chronicle, September 23, about the bad state of the recycling area at Dartmouth’s park-and-ride.
Curiously, today on my weekly shopping foray to Dartmouth, and to the park-and-ride recycling area with my empty bottles and newspapers, there was a council employee there sweeping up the debris and broken glass.
Jocularly, I said to him: ‘This is good to see, is it just a one-off?’
He replied: ‘Don’t know, never had to come and do it before’.
So perhaps my letter has produced an element of ‘sweeping action’.
Meanwhile, similar action is now required by those responsible for the huge recycling bins, which are always overflowing and smelly – flies abound, and apart from their filthy unsightliness, they are a health hazard.
