DARTMOUTH Business Improvement District has pledged to be more open and transparent after a furore over a promotional photoshoot. Complaints were posted on the BID's Facebook page after it awarded Salcombe camerawoman Lorna Yabsley a two-day contract for the town's national advertising campaign that will go live in September. Dartmouth photographer Andy Carter, who has been in the business for more than 30 years, said he – and several other photographers in the town – would like to have had the opportunity to bid for the contract and they felt overlooked. He posted the following message on the BID's social networking site: 'Another slap in the face – thank you Dartmouth BID!' His wife, Tor, added: 'I think Dartmouth has plenty of talented photographers of its own – Nicola Walker, Joe Mutagh, Carol Hart Fletcher and, of course, Dartmouth Photography to name a few. 'Come on BID, if you are about supporting local businesses and promoting our town, do so!' See this week's Dartmouth Chronicle for more on this story
