Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division Dartmouth 0, Launceston 1

DARTMOUTH's continued inability to put the ball in the net is 'the only thing missing' for the Darts, according to boss Lance Worthington.

Their profligacy in front of goal cost them dear on Saturday as a goal in the final five minutes handed Launceston a last-gasp victory.

But Worthington is hopeful the goals will soon come. he said: 'Once we score one, we'll probably go on and score a hatful. We've got to be more prolific, but we've got goals in the side.

'We just tried to walk the ball into the net at times on Saturday, but there's not a lot wrong with us.'

He described tomorrow's trip to Penzance and next Saturday's home encounter with Royal Marines 'must-win games' to ensure the Darts do not tumble into trouble.

Before then, Worthington hopes to have signed an unnamed midfielder from a club in the same league as the Darts to replace the departing Shaun Bowden.

As revealed in last week's Dartmouth Chronicle, Bowden is heading Down Under for a year at the start of next month.

Worthington is also hopeful key players Andy Widdicombe and Radley Veale will be back from injury in the near future, too.

Of Saturday's defeat, he said: 'We played some exceptional football at times. I was a bit disappointed in Launceston, though, who were second in the league.

'They were very, very route one and just pumped the ball forward to their quick lads up front.

'It was soul destroying when they scored in last five minutes – a real kick in the teeth. The lads' heads dropped.'
