Move over Mitchell Johnson and make way for the new Australian cricket sensation, Jamie Bayley.
His man-of-the-match display with both bat and ball on Sunday paved the way for an easy victory for the Dartmouth Arms over Birssy's Dolphin in the Dartmouth Twenty20 league.
The toss was won by the Dartmouth Arms, who chose to field first and it turned out to be a very good decision, bringing a wicket on the very first delivery.
Good bowling spells from Graham Bayley and Dan Jackson set the tone of the match.
However, the batsmen were starting to get their eyes in. Enter Dartmouth Arms' two overseas players, South African Lawrence Shields and Australian Jamie Bayley. Both men managed to get the ball swinging and showed great precision and aggression in their bowling, forcing the batsman to play outside off stump.
This produced a number of catches for Pete Foster keeping wicket.
Lawrence Shields bowled the delivery of the match, a beautiful in-swinging yorker, removing the middle stump, as Birssy's Dolphin slumped to 52 all out after 13 overs.
Birssy's Dolphin began their bowling well, with Dean Martin picking up the wickets of opener Simon Geen and Graham Bayley, batting at three, both for 0. It's not often these past few months that you can rely on an Australian batsman to steady the ship, but that is precisely what Jamie Bayley did.
Batting full of confidence and without worry, he made 21 not out.
Forming a good partnership with Andy Jessop (27 not out), he saw the Dartmouth Arms pass their target of 53 to win.
Dan Jackson, the DA captain, would like to thank everyone who turned up to watch, as well as Jim Brent for the fabulous work he does looking after the pitch. He's also grateful to South Hams Council for the use of Coronation Park and Phill Geen and John Pope for looking after his team after the game.
