Lydia Guy, of Townstal Road, Dartmouth, writes:

I am moved to write regarding Dartmouth Town Council's decision to sell the Guildhall, It seems an ill thought out decision and I wonder if the matter has been fully considered. This building is a community resource and could, with a little investment, be put to excellent use.

Perhaps we should ask a few questions regarding the haste of this decision. Why without delay? Do we know where the town council will relocate? Are the figures for the running of the building accurate?

Will we, the people of Dartmouth, be asked for our permission to sell off the family silver? And do those members of the council who voted in favour of the sell-off have some undisclosed purpose of their own for the speed of this decision?

Before making any rash moves to sell our Guildhall, we could be asked for our opinion on the matter.
