Two celebrated young musicians will be performing in the South Hams next week.
The Flavel’s Young Artist Platform series will be welcoming Jade Gall who plays the saxophone and Alex Wilson who plays the piano on Friday, July 13.
A local Devonian, Jade, is a highly celebrated UK-based saxophonist and flautist. Top UK trumpeter, Steve Waterman said she has a “big strong tenor sound with a beautiful sense of melody and swing”. She is a “musician to look out for in the future” he added.
Experienced in jazz, classical and pop, she has performed alongside top-class musicians from around the world, including Allison Adams Tucker, Clarie Martin, Clare Teal, Jason Rebello and Duncan Lamont and has featured on BBC Radio broadcasts.
A regular feature of horn sections across the UK and Europe, Jade has performed to sell-out crowds at The Welsh Millennium Centre, Glastonbury Festival and Boomtown Fair.
In addition, she features as a regular saxophonist of the smash-hit touring show ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ and has also played for ‘The Magic Motown’ and ‘Soul Legends’ shows as far afield as Barcelona and Belgium.
As a classical saxophonist, Jade is a Fellow of Trinity College London and a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
She also has a passion for sharing her musical skills, and education projects are a key part of her musical life.
In addition, Jade is an experienced saxophone, flute and clarinet tutor, teaching at a number of educational institutions and has worked with South West Music School while studying at Dartington College of Arts.
As a jazz educator, she has worked with the National Youth Jazz Collective and is a founding member of South Devon Youth Jazz.
Her programme next Friday includes work by Handel, Pizzolla, Jean Baptiste Singelee, Vaughan Williams and JS Bach.
A spokesman from the Flavel said: “Get your weekend off to a flying start by popping in to the Flavel at 5.30pm on Friday, July 13, for an inspirational performance with a free glass of wine to follow.”
