On Regatta Friday, Devon County Council announced their recent proposals concerning parking in Dartmouth.

These do nothing to help our traffic problems, were not voted for by the townsfolk and can be no more than a ruse to help DCC prop up their income by increasing the number of parking fines. How cynical – but Regatta Friday was a very good day to bury bad news. We appear to be losing many parking areas as well as the free parking we enjoy in the winter months.

We hope our councillors will use every means at their disposal to fight these plans (the localism act?) as it could well sound a death knell for the town. They appear to have turned a deaf ear to the requirements of both Eric Pickles and Mary Portas and if we are to mount a campaign, we have until September 20, to let DCC know our feelings.
