South Hams Society AGM to include presentation on campaign against Winslade turbine

By Chris Derrick in Environment

Planning is top of the agenda at the South Hams Society’s AGM next week, to be held at 7pm on Thursday, April 27 at Kingsbridge Community College.

Alongside the formal business of appointing the society’s new committee, there will be a presentation from David Hayward, who was part of the team of local residents who successfully campaigned against a wind turbine at Winslade that had been granted planning permission by the local authority.

Guests and members will also be updated on the various responses received from the society’s members as to their views on the recently published Joint Local Plan. These comments formed the basis of the society’s response to the plan which is being lodged before the public consultation period closes on Wednesday, April 26.

Current campaigns being supported by members of the society includes the planned developments at the Crofts in Salcombe, the Tides Reach Hotel at South Sands and the Bantham Estate.

There will be light refreshments available and a chance to learn more about the society’s activities as well as the opportunity to meet with the members and supporters of the society. A warm welcome awaits anyone who wants to know more about the society and its aims to protect this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
